This week we are thrilled to welcome our very first space in Scotland to our network. And how fitting that it should be the very first coworking space to have ever opened in Scotland - The Melting Pot!
Founded in 2005, The Melting Pot (TMP) has been a pioneer in the independent coworking movement ever since. Built on the values of collaboration and connection, TMP has always focussed on using work space as a means of bringing people together to find inspiration, support, connection and community. And their continued success all this time is proof that they don’t just talk the talk on community, they actually deliver.
With a focus on social innovation and those who are working to do good in the world, the business itself also operates as a social enterprise, meaning all profits are invested right back into the business to further delivery of their mission.
“Since the pandemic, like all of those in the coworking industry, we’ve been focussed on how to use our years of expertise in flexible/hybrid/remote working to help people and organisations transition into this new way of working”, says Community Coordinator Xabi Villares.
“Along with coworking spaces, platforms like One Coworking are the key to making this transition smooth and simple, so we’re really glad to become part of the network to help give even more teams and individuals access to our work space. Plus it’s great for our own Members too, who can use One Coworking to explore coworking spaces wherever they go. Now we just need to find a way for the TMP to travel and make use of it as well!”
With such a kindred spirit to the values of One Coworking, and our shared ideals in using the power and potential of coworking to improve people’s lives, it was only a matter of time before we joined forces to support one another in delivering this mission.
Set in the magical city of Edinburgh, TMP is located right in the city centre, with easy access via public transport or on foot. With views from atop Calton Hill just 5 minutes walk from their doorstep, it’s also a stone’s throw from the UNESCO Heritage mediaeval Old Town, and Holyrood Palace.
